 Zion Baptist Church of Reading, Pennsylvania is blessed with a rich history and a bright future. Over one hundred years ago, African Americans migrating to this city were determined to worship in the Baptist tradition. They also saw a need to establish a Baptist church in the City of Reading. From humble beginnings in a home, to its present location, and by God's grace, Zion Baptist Church became the first of the Black Baptist churches in the city of Reading.
Since its inception, Zion has been a Mother church to other Baptist congregations and a trail blazer in our city and the religious community. Doctrinally, we believe the Bible to be the inspired, and infallible Word of God.
Our facilities have been recently renovated and expanded. This came as a result of a devastating fire that gutted our sanctuary in October, 1993. We were blessed to march back into our sanctuary in October, 1996.
Our pastor is the Reverend Raymond C. Bland. He and his lovely wife, Lady Bee, have been a part of the Zion Baptist Church family since 2005. Our Pastor seeks to lead the church in a ministry that is founded upon anointed teaching and preaching of the scriptures with a practical application to daily life.
